Sharmarathon - Sharm el Sheikh Half Marathon

Half Marathon of 21.097Km inside RAS MOHAMED National Park This race will full immerge the runners in the middle of desert and dunes ,the mangrove along the coast, the turquoise colour of the bays and the peaceful internal salt lakes will be the scenery of one of the most unique races in this beautiful part of the world. Running with the company of herons, seagulls ,fishing eagles and hundred of storks that stop for a rest over here while migrating from East Africa to Europe will be an unforgettable experience for anyone, and if you are lucky you will also have a chance to spot a desert fox. The 21.097Km race runs over different surfaces ,from the tarmac of the first part of the track to the fine coral ground and the pebbles by the seashore and soft sand of the desert, runners will face both technically difficult areas of track and straight line running. The starting and finishing line will be at the monumental gate, symbol of RAS MOHAMED National Park, then the race track follows the line of the coast by the Hidden Bay then runs by the salt lake and back to the coast by Yolanda Bay. The last 5 Km of the race will be an exclusive for the runners because this side of the park is closed to other visitors. A special request from the SHARMARATHON organisers to all involved in this special event RAS MOHAMED National Park is one of the jewel of the red sea and also UNESCO protected area, so need to be respected and preserved. Ras Mohamed National Park Rules -It is strictly forbidden to remove and/or damage any material whether live or inanimate such as corals, seashells, plants, fish, fossils. -Don’t litter the park. -It is forbidden to walk over the coral reef . -It is forbidden to feed the animals. . -Fishing is forbidden.
